JIM thrilled at Levante comeback

Levante boss Juan Ignacio Martinez was thrilled at his side’s astonishing comeback against Espanyol at the Ciutat de Valencia.

Los Granotes came back from two goals down at the break to win 3-2 against Mauricio Pochettino’s men, and had to do so with the handicap of having Vicente Iborra dismissed on 81 minutes.

However, despite his elation at the result, Martinez did admit his team was the recipient of some good fortune.

“You can’t put a value on having won 3-2 with a man less but I realise that we had the luck that you sometimes need,” he told a Press conference.

“It was a game of two different halves in terms of the attitude shown by my team. In the first half we lacked the necessary intensity when you take into account that we were 2-0 down.

“Juanlu then got the goal that put us back into the match. We were also lucky in that Espanyol lost Verdu, who is a very important player for them.”

Despite the win, Martinez acknowledged that he was now going to take advantage of the two-week break for internationals to do a ‘deep analysis’ of his squad and vary certain aspects of play he has not been happy with.
