Albelda: Supercopa no bearing on us

Valencia captain David Albelda has insisted that Barcelona's Supercopa loss will have no effect when the two teams meet on Sunday.

Los Che travel to Camp Nou at the weekend, but the 34-year-old believes that the midweek loss for Tito Vilanova’s side will have no bearing on the League fixture.

“The next game [for Barcelona] is on Sunday. It is not a Supercopa game, but a League match. I do not think that affects them at all,” he told reporters today.

Before that though, the 34-year-old will concentrating on the Champions League draw that takes place in Monaco this afternoon.

Valencia are drawn in pot two, and could face the likes of Manchester United, Milan or Bayern Munich in their group. Albelda though, is not concerned with who they face.

“Once you are in the Champions League, it is hard to avoid major teams. Preferences are always there, but whoever we face we will compete with.”

Finally, the club captain weighted in on the contentious issue of late kick offs, something that has engulfed the Spanish game recently.

“Playing at 11o'clock at night is not good. Those in charge have to do something about it.”
