Pellegrini warns against complacency

Manuel Pellegrini tells his Malaga players that if they ‘switch off and relax’ then they will certainly be eliminated from the Champions League Play-off round.

The Anchovies currently hold a 2-0 advantage over opponents going into Tuesday’s second leg in Greece.

The winners will earn a place in the competition’s group stages and Pellegrini has warned that it won’t be Malaga progressing, if they don’t see out the midweek game correctly.

“We know we have to play a good game for 90 minutes and stay very focused to get the result we need, which is to win.

“If we score, no-one knows how the opponent will react to a goal. The important thing, though, is to play like we have been playing. This will depend on the attitude of my players. If we switch off and relax, we will not progress.

“The Greeks are very strong, as they have shown in the past. The atmosphere at their ground will serve as an extra stimulus to my players.”
