Carles Puyol will miss the second leg of the Supercopa de Espana against Real Madrid due to a fractured cheekbone.
The Barcelona captain was rushed to hospital after picking up the injury in a clash with Osasuna’s Roland Lamah in Sunday’s 2-1 win at El Sadar, and will be sidelined for Wednesday’s visit to the Santiago Bernabeu.
Puyol suffered a similar injury two seasons ago but initial reports in Spain indicate the 34-year-old could be back playing as early as next week.
