Pochettino still unhappy at transfers

Mauricio Pochettino has again explained that he is not content with the work carried out by Espanyol so far in the transfer market.

Los Periquitos, who almost lost their Coach to interest from Sampdoria over the summer, have brought in Diego Colotto, Sergio Tejera and Wakaso Mubarak so far.

However, with nine players having left in the summer, Pochettino is still anxious as he prepares his team for their first home game of the season tomorrow, against Real Zaragoza.

“There are too many unresolved situations, it is a squad and a team that has yet to be defined. And that is clearly not as positive as we would like,” he reiterated at today’s Press conference.

“But hopefully it will not weigh us down in trying to get results, which is most important and would be the best possible answer to this kind of situation.

“Logically, though, for a Coach, I would like this to all be defined.”

Pochettino has already expressed a desire this week for the club to sign another striker.

“There are players defined for the role that I have asked for, which is in front of the goal, and they have the experience and the quality needed.

“But now is not the time to focus on this, but instead on Zaragoza, and I won’t exhaust energy on other things.

“Having the ball is our intention [tomorrow] and we are going to try to monopolise the game and counter their direct style of play.”
