Modric hoping for Spurs OK today

Luka Modric is today hoping that Tottenham Hotspur give him the green light to sign for Real Madrid, according to Marca.

The Spurs midfielder is optimistic Spurs’ Chairman Daniel Levy will finally give his consent to the move so the Croatian international can put an end to one of the summer’s most drawn-out transfer sagas.

If Levy decides to play a further waiting game before Modric seals his estimated €37m transfer from the London club, then it is expected to be at least Monday before any business is conducted.

In any case, Spurs boss Andre Villas-Boas has accepted that the 26-year-old will be leaving White Hart Lane after disclosing on Thursday that the deal was almost done.

“The Chairman told me that in the conversations he has had, and is still having, there has been a lot of progress made.

“The situation could be resolved within the next few days,” revealed Villas-Boas.
