‘Valladolid cannot relax’

Javi Guerra has warned his Real Valladolid teammates that they cannot relax heading into the weekend’s clash with Levante.

The newly-promoted outfit won their opening day trip to Real Zaragoza and prepare now to welcome Levante to the Jose Zorilla on Monday night.

However, striker Guerra has warned that the club must not forget how and why they won their opening game.

“We cannot relax for having won one game,” he warned at today’s Press conference.

“That is even if it has taken pressure off the team to get that first win.

“It was a very polished result, one that, along with our philosophy, all the players defended for. Our style of play is to keep the ball and, from there, create chances.

“Maybe at first we were a little daunted, that is normal. We had some respect for the Primera Division and we didn’t know what level we were at.”

Guerra will face his former side in Levante in matchday two of the Primera season.

“We know their game. They play very well at the back and do very well on the counter-attack. It’s a very special game for me and I’m really looking forward to it.

“It will be difficult, but we have to push at home. The city is eager for football in La Primera, it should be a good game and we will try for the three points.”
