Arda: Gala return one day, not now

Turkish midfielder Arda Turan has reiterated his commitment to Atletico Madrid and hit out at media coverage of him in his homeland.

Turan enjoys a strong relationship with Fatih Terim – Coach of his former club Galatasaray – but the 25-year-old has moved to quash suggestions that his return to Istanbul is imminent.

“I am very happy in Madrid and I love living in this city,” he told Haberturk TV.

“It has never entered my mind to leave Atletico.

“Fatih Terim is like a father to me, and one day I will return, but not now. I will always be a Galatasaray fan, and I wish them well.”

Los Colchoneros’ playmaker also had words of praise for his current boss, Diego Simeone.

“I am working hard and listening to all the things Simeone is telling me, things that will make me a better player.”

However Turan, who scored a stunning goal in Atleti's 1-1 draw at Levante on Sunday, is unhappy with his treatment at the hands of the Turkish media.

“I do not like to talk about my private life. People speak about my girlfriend, my car, my new jeans, but not about my accomplishments with Atletico as it should be.

“We have 70 million people in Turkey, yet we won only five medals at the London Games. And nobody talks about it!

“When we have improved as a nation, then you can start to talk about my girlfriend and my new clothes.”
