Jemez ‘half happy’ with Rayo success

Rayo Vallecano boss Paco Jemez declared himself ‘half happy’ with his side’s display in the 1-0 home victory over Granada.

In a carbon copy of the final home game of last season the Madrid side sealed the points in stoppage time when Roberto Trashorras lashed home a free-kick.

However, Jemez felt it was a game of two completely contrasting halves.

“In the first half we were good but in the second we had no control of the ball and committed errors that allowed Granada to play further up the pitch,” the former Cordoba Coach told a Press conference.

“We had less possession and made fewer chances after the break but in the opening 45 minutes we tried to play our football.

“We could have done with having more of the ball but I didn’t think we played that badly. When you don’t have it you have to run more but that doesn’t mean you are in bad shape.

“So I am half happy, not fully satisfied, but it’s always good to improve on a win rather than a draw or a defeat.

“Winning makes us think we can continue like this in the division and that is a source of pleasure and confidence.

“We are a team that will fight and fight and try to take the game to the opposition, sometimes with more success than others.

“There are teams that will beat us, but others will fall by the wayside,” he added.
