Pep Guardiola has warned that both Tito Vilanova and Jose Mourinho will need time afforded to them before judgement is passed on 2012-13.

Where Mourinho and his Real Madrid side were held to a 1-1 draw on the opening day of the season by Valencia, Guardiola’s replacement at Barcelona, Vilanova, took La Blaugrana to a 5-1 win over Real Sociedad.

However, Guardiola, who is currently on a sabbatical from the game after four years and 14 trophies at the Camp Nou, believes it is too early to draw conclusions.

“I’m still watching the games. Once a Coach, always a Coach,” he told reporters in the US, where he is currently based.

“We have to wait at least 10 games before drawing any conclusions though. Both Barca and Madrid have great squads.

“This year, I hope to learn more about the American way of life. I hope to also improve my English and also that of my children, this is what I will be doing this year.”
