Rayo dynamic says Granada boss

Granada boss Juan Antonio Anquela has described opening day opponents Rayo Vallecano as a ‘dynamic team that likes to play football’.

The 54-year-old is in his first season with the Andalusians, having taken over from Abel Resino in the summer, and believes his team is ready to face the new campaign.

“We are lacking a little in some parts but that is the same for everyone, so we must be a block, a good team, and try to be ourselves,” he told a Press conference.

Anquela stressed that he had brought in some good players ‘who can compete in La Primera’ and that Granada would ‘be uncomfortable to play against for anybody’, before showering praise on Rayo ahead of Monday night’s game.

“Rayo are a dynamic team who want to play football because Paco Jemez has the philosophy of playing that way.

“It is going to be an intense game that will be decided in certain areas but we will play as we would at any other ground.”

The former Alcorcon boss also spoke of his aims for this season.

”Granada was a millimetre from going down last year so we want to achieve top-flight safety and not suffer so much.

“Personally I am living a dream and want to enjoy the atmosphere and hope to play some good football at the same time.”
