Costa: Valencia good enough

Ricardo Costa believes Valencia should be strong enough to pick up a result this weekend away to Real Madrid.

His teammate Sofiane Feghouli has already insinuated a similar notion earlier this week and defender Costa is in agreement – Los Che must go into Saturday’s match away to the defending champions in the right mindset.

“We are good enough to compete at the Bernabeu. It will be very difficult, though, because they will respect Valencia a lot,” reflected the defender at today’s conference.

“It is the first League game and they will be playing at home, but we must play our game, work our new signings into the team and start the season with a good result to try to bridge the gap in the table with Real and Barcelona.

“We know they have their philosophy and are into a third year with Jose Mourinho on the bench. They will start the game very strong, try to pressure us and score in the first 15 minutes, but we should also start well, be strong and take the risks that we have to take.”
