AVB: Modric-Real talks advanced

Andre Villas Boas has admitted that talks between Tottenham and Real Madrid for the transfer of Luka Modric could be concluded very soon.

The Croatian midfielder has been linked with a move to the Spanish capital for most of the summer after failing to join his teammates for early pre-season as he pushed for a departure.

Reports today suggested that negotiations on a €38m transfer were advanced, something that Spurs Coach Villas Boas has verified in updating on the situation.

“We expect him here to train,” the former Porto boss explained.

“He is still a Tottenham player but from what the chairman has told me talks are ongoing, they stalled a little bit two weeks ago, but they have picked up recently.

“This situation is not a distraction. We set out a plan for the player and we have stuck to it. The player is training individually and he doesn't disrupt our environment.

“I think we will have a conclusion in the next couple of weeks.”
