Torres’ form boosts shirt sales

Oliver Torres’ form with Spain at the European Under-19 Football Championship this summer has boosted sales of his shirt at Atletico Madrid.

The 17-year-old midfielder impressed with La Rojita on their way to winning the European crown earlier this summer in Estonia and returned to train with the senior Atleti side in pre-season.

His form and promise has been such that the player’s name has rocketed to the fifth most-requested to be printed on shirts sold by the club.

Only Radamel Falcao, who still accounts for 50 per cent of all names sold on shirts at the club, Adrian Lopez, Arda Turan and Juanfran are ahead of the youngster.

Torres is anticipated to play a minimal role this season with the first team, predominantly training and playing for the B team.
