Gio still interesting Sevilla

Sevilla remain interested in Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Giovani dos Santos, according to the player’s representative.

Vicente Montes, who also acts as his lawyer, insists there is still a chance the Mexican international could end up with Los Rojiblancos, who have been linked with him in the last two transfer windows.

“Tottenham’s intention is to find a team that suits all three parties.

“There is interest from several teams but he has come closest to moving to either Italy or Spain,” Montes told Telefonica, before admitting that Sevilla was the club with the best chance of signing the player.

Dos Santos, 23, joined Spurs from Barcelona for €6m in June 2008 but has never managed to hold down a regular first team place at White Hart Lane, having been loaned to Ipswich Town, Galatasaray and Racing Santander since then.

However, after an impressive showing at the London Olympics, where he helped his country to the gold medal with a 2-1 victory over Brazil in the final, there has been renewed interest.

As a result, Montes believes Spurs are now ready to do business as they risk losing the player for nothing at the end of next season.

“Tottenham have been much more flexible, more understanding, more open, totally different.

“We are not going to renew, so they either sell now or he will go free and they will lose out economically.

“There is still time but you need to look at the Tottenham Chairman [Daniel Levy] to know how he works.

“He does not always act the same way and resolves transfers at the last moment.”
