Valdez explains Valencia move

Nelson Valdez arrives in Valencia for his medical today and reveals that his return to Spain is motivated by family reasons.

The Paraguayan is close to a return to La Liga with Los Che after they agreed terms this week Russian outfit Rubin Kazan for an initial loan move for the forward.

For Valdez, who spent the 2010-11 campaign with Hercules, it is a switch he had been after for a while.

“I am here with a tremendous joy to belong to such a great club,” he exclaimed to reporters today as he arrived at the club’s complex to undergo medical examinations ahead of the transfer.

“Hopefully I will pass the medical and officially become a Valencia player.”

Valdez had earlier explained on Rubin’s website of his reasons for pushing through the move.

“Up until now, my daughter didn’t have to go to school and my family could live with me in Kazan. But, now that is not the case I would have had to have stayed there alone.

“Believe me, it is very hard for both me and my family.

“I’m especially grateful to [Coach Kurban] Berdiev, who was sympathetic to my family problems and allowed me to play in Spain. I consider him a great Coach.

“He created a great team that was able to beat Barcelona.”

Valdez will reportedly only move to Valencia on an initial loan deal due to the high asking price of €10m for his permanent services.
