Pepe could be a surprise inclusion in Real Madrid’s squad to face Valencia this weekend, despite an ankle injury.
The centre-back was sent home from Portugal’s training camp this week after their team doctors corroborated Madrid medical staff’s claim that he had injured his ankle.
However, reports now suggest that the player only needs two days of rest before he is likely to be available for Jose Mourinho this weekend.
Raul Albiol could deputise for Pepe this Sunday, otherwise, with the Portuguese then more assured of playing in the following midweek’s Super Cup clash with Barcelona.
