Falcao slams La Liga start times

Atletico Madrid striker Radamel Falcao has blasted the kick-off times imposed by the Spanish League for the start of the season.

Atletico have been handed the late start of 11pm, local time, against Levante at the Ciutat de Valencia on Sunday, an hour at which the Colombian international maintains he is usually ‘sleeping’.

“It is difficult to understand the kick-off times for the first three rounds of fixtures, especially this Sunday,’ he told ABC.

“People have to go to work the following day and I don’t think it is a particularly good time for children to be coming to the stadium.

“I’m normally asleep at that time and sometimes I just cannot understand these decisions.”

Falcao refused to talk about the European Super Cup clash with Chelsea on August 31 and insists he is concentrating solely on the next game.

“The priority is the match against Levante, not the Chelsea one. It will be important to get a good start in La Liga so we can go into the Chelsea game with confidence.

“If we don’t get a positive result it will be difficult, so all our concentration is on the Levante game.

“We’ve had a good pre-season and can’t wait to get off to a winning start.”

The 26-year-old, signed from Porto last summer, also had words of praise for Atleti boss Diego Simeone.

“The Coach is a person who is very passionate about his profession and takes care of the smallest details.

“He lives and breathes football 24 hours a day and makes sure we are in the best possible physical condition.”
