Celta Vigo defender Gustavo Cabral believes top-flight safety is top of the list of priorities for the Galicians next year.
The 26-year-old spent last season on loan at Levante from Arsenal de Sarandi, making 16 La Liga appearances for the Valencia-based side and helping them to a European spot.
He has come to a similar arrangement with newly-promoted Celta for the 2012-13 campaign, trusting his experience last term will stand him in good stead for what could prove a testing time.
“My aim this year is to play well for Celta and keep them in La Primera, that is the main thing,” he told La Voz de Galicia.
“I’m sure it will be difficult because we have a lot of players who are new to the division, but I hope we can adapt quickly right from the start.”
Cabral recognised the need for Paco Herrera’s men to be solid at the back and also insisted home form could be the key.
“We have some good defenders here. [Andres] Tunez is a great centre-back and I’ve already played with Samuel [Llorca] and we did quite well.
“I noted in the last game that [Jonathan] Vila is more like a midfielder, wanting to take the ball out from the back.
“However, we need to be strong at home and take maximum points whenever possible while keeping as many clean sheets as we can,” he concluded.
