Rayo close in on Man City youngster

Rayo Vallecano are on the verge of securing the services of Manchester City youngster Mohammed Abu.

According to Rayoherald.com, the 20-year-old midfielder is set to agree terms at the Campo de Futbol de Vallecas within the next few days after struggling find a way into Roberto Mancini’s expensively-assembled squad at the Etihad Stadium.

The Ghanaian international joined the Blues in August 2010 from Sporting Club Accra and was immediately loaned to Norwegian outfit Stromsgodset, where he made his professional debut.

In October 2011 he signed a contract extension with City until June 2014 and joined Eintracht Frankfurt on loan four months later, although he never played a game for the German outfit before returning to Stromsgodset on a similar arrangement.

Abu is known as a defensive midfielder who can also play further forward and was selected for the 23-man Ghana squad that took part in the 2012 African Nations Cup.
