Andres Guardado says he is excited by the challenge posed at Valencia and insists he wants to become a hero at Mestalla.
Mexican winger Guardado joined Los Che in the summer on a free transfer from Deportivo de La Coruna, and will complete the formalities of signing his four-year contract on Wednesday before commencing training under new boss Mauricio Pellegrino the following day.
“I am excited to have come to a big club where I want to become a hero, play plenty of minutes and be someone important,” he told a Press conference on arrival at Valencia airport.
Guardado, 25, has been with Depor for the past five years after a €7m move from Mexican outfit Atlas, making 137 League appearances with 23 goals, and is aware of the demands placed on players at a club such as Valencia.
“I know this club is required to be up there at the top and fighting for the Champions League places but I am here not to evade responsibility because I know what it is to wear this shirt.
“I want the fans to know that I am a committed player,” he said.
