Osasuna striker joins Russians

Osasuna have announced that striker Ibrahima Balde has been sold to Russian side Kuban Krasnodar for €3.5m.

The Senegal international joined the Pamplona-based club from Atletico Madrid for €1m in July 2011, with a buy-back option inserted into the agreement meaning Los Colchoneros will now receive a third of the 23-year-old’s transfer fee.

Ibrahima, who is currently preparing for the London Olympics with his country, will pen a three-year deal with the Russian outfit, who are coached by former Chelsea, Southampton, Bradford City and Sheffield Wednesday player Dan Petrescu, and the 44-year-old declared himself delighted with the deal.

“I am glad that talks have come to a successful conclusion and we will now be able to complete the transfer,” he said.

Dakar-born Ibrahima began his career in Spain with Atletico Madrid’s B team, having had spells in Argentina with Velez Sarsfield and Argentinos Juniors as a youth, and appeared 18 times for the Atleti first team before his move to Osasuna, where he scored seven goals from 22 La Liga appearances last term.
