Valencia reach Gago agreement

Reports in Spain say Valencia have reached a preliminary agreement to sign Real Madrid midfielder Fernando Gago.

The 26-year-old, who spent last season on loan at Roma, has been told by boss Jose Mourinho that he is not in his future plans at the Santiago Bernabeu and is expected to pen a four-year deal at Mestalla.

“Fernando Gago arrived at the Hotel Valencia Palace tonight [Thursday] after a preliminary agreement was reached between Valencia, Real Madrid and the player himself,” read a statement on Los Che’s Twitter account, although no precise details regarding the deal were given.

Gago joined Real Madrid in a €20.5m deal from Boca Juniors in January 2007, where he was christened the 'Argentine Guardiola', and made 92 appearances for Los Blancos, scoring one goal.

He becomes the fourth player signed by new Valencia boss Mauricio Pellegrino this summer following the arrivals of Joao Pereira, Andres Guardado and Jonathan Viera.
