Madrid fans want Jese in first team

Real Madrid fans have demanded via a Marca.com poll that boss Jose Mourinho promotes striker Jese Rodriguez to his first-team squad.

More than 12,000 users took part following the youngster’s exploits with the Spain Under-19 team in Estonia, when he helped Julen Lopetegui’s side to European Championship success in Sunday’s 1-0 final victory over Greece and scored the decisive goal, making him the tournament’s leading scorer with five.

The Gran Canaria-born player, 19 – who also had a great 2011-12 campaign with the club’s reserve team Castilla, helping the second string to promotion to La Segunda via the play-offs – received a whopping 77.5 per cent 'yes' from users asked to vote if he was ready to make the step up, and says he is ready if he receives the call from Mourinho.

“My team is Real Madrid Castilla and I’m pleased we reached La Segunda because it was a challenge, but Mourinho knows he has people in the second team who he can call upon any time” said Jese.
