Real Sociedad defender set for Wolves

Real Sociedad defender Vadim Demidov is expected to complete a move to Wolverhampton Wanderers in the next few days, claims Marca.

The 25-year-old central defender – a Norwegian international who was born in Latvia – has been given permission to talk to the English club, whose new manager Stale Solbakken is keen to bring him to Molineux as the Midlanders prepare for life in the Championship following relegation last season.

Demidov – signed from Rosenborg in July 2010 although his contract did not take effect until the following January – still has one year left on his existing deal at Anoeta but has already shown a desire to leave the club.

Having been a regular starter in San Sebastian under previous boss Martin Lasarte, he has since found it difficult to get into Philippe Montanier’s line-up and told Marca in May that he also misses his family.

“The club knows I don’t want to continue here for longer than the contract I have signed,” said Demidov.

“I am a professional and I will complete it but I miss my family and my girlfriend.

“This is my job, I know that, but I also want to enjoy life and right now I can’t think of staying here any longer.”

Txuri-urdin President Jokin Aperribay will not stand in the way of Demidov’s desire to exit the club, yet he may ask a small fee for a player who cost nothing and for whom there has also been interest from Germany.
