Spurs check on Valladolid goalkeeper

Real Valladolid goalkeeper Jaime Jimenez is the subject of interest from Tottenham Hotspur, reports Marca.

“I do not deny there has been interest from several clubs, including Tottenham Hotspur, but it something I leave to my representative Javier Gonzalez,” admitted the 31-year-old.

“If I left here there would need to be agreement between the three parties because I am very happy at Valladolid.

“I worked hard to achieve promotion last season and would like nothing better than to fulfil my ambition to play with this team in La Primera. But this is football and anything can happen.”

The situation is not new for Jaime, who is yet to taste top-flight football in Spain.

“This summer is not very different for me in this regard as, for example, Valladolid showed interest in me when I played for Zamora and then I was prevented from leaving Ciudad de Murcia for Real Betis.

“Only when I was at Elche was I more relaxed in that sense, so I’m used to it and it’s certainly not going to unsettle me.

“Besides, I’ll reiterate that my intention and desire is to remain with Valladolid.”

The club’s director of football Alberto Marcos has already acknowledged that some players are on the agenda of other teams, although he refused to talk of specific cases.

“Without going into whether we’ve had interest or offers for Valladolid players, what I can say is that nothing has interested us thus far so it’s business as usual.”
