Rayo replace Tamudo with Nielsen

Rayo Vallecano have raided Villarreal’s B team to replace veteran striker Raul Tamudo, who has joined Mexican side Pachuca.

Los Franjirrojos have announced the capture of Nicki Bille Nielsen on a season-long loan, with a €1m option to buy the Dane if he proves a success at the Campo de Futbol de Vallecas.

The 24-year-old began his career in 2006 with Frem in his native country before trying his luck in Italy with Reggina, where he made seven Serie A appearances, but after loan spells with Martina and Lucchese he returned to Denmark two years later and joined Nordsjaelland.

Ten goals in 48 appearances brought him to the attention of Villarreal, who paid €1.8m for him in June 2010, but he was unable to break into the first team at El Madrigal and figured just once in La Liga – replacing Joan Capdevila for the final 14 minutes of a 1-0 home defeat to Levante in February 2011- and spent last season on loan to Elche in La Segunda, scoring 11 times in 37 games.
