Iriney makes Granada switch

Granada have completed the signing of Brazilian midfielder Iriney from Real Betis on a three-year deal, reports Granada Hoy.

It is understood the 31-year-old will not earn the almost €800,000 per season he has been receiving at the Benito Villamarin, yet his salary will still be considerably more than the €400,000 offer Betis had put on the table for him to renew his existing agreement.

Furthermore, the duration of the contract at Granada was believed to have been a deciding factor in the player moving to Los Carmenes, where new boss Juan Antonio Anquela is hoping Iriney can bring some defensive stability to his midfield next season.

El Grana also revealed they had been ´working hard` for the past three weeks to capture Iriney, who was the subject of interest from several clubs, and he becomes their third summer signing following the arrivals of goalkeeper Tono, midfielder Gabriel Torje and striker Antonio Floro Flores.

Iriney started 30 games for Los Beticos last term, having been a first-team regular since his signing from Almeria in June 2009, and has also had spells with Rayo Vallecano and Celta Vigo following his arrival in Europe from Sao Caetano in 2002.
