Osasuna capture Armenteros

Osasuna have snapped up Argentine midfielder Emiliano Armenteros on a free transfer from Sevilla.

The 26-year-old has spent the last two years on loan at Rayo Vallecano, helping the Madrid club to promotion with 20 goals from 37 Segunda appearances, but was unable to hold down a starting spot at the Sanchez Pizjuan following a reported Є2m move from Independiente in 2007.

According to Osasuna’s official website Armenteros will be presented at the Reyno de Navarra on Tuesday and becomes the club’s fourth signing of the summer.

Defender Alejandro Arribas joined from Rayo Vallecano along with Numancia striker Nano and Real Valladolid winger Sisi, all of whom had were out of contract at their respective clubs.

Los Rojillos have also agreed that left-back Eneko Satrustegui will link up with Numancia on a season-long loan to give the 21-year-old some much-needed minutes after struggling to make the breakthrough into Jose Luis Mendilibar’s team.

Satrustegui has made 10 La Liga starts for Osasuna and holds the unwanted distinction of being the first Spanish player to be sent off in his first two games in the top flight, having been dismissed in a 7-1 defeat at Real Madrid and getting his marching orders in a 2-1 win at Espanyol in November 2011.
