Txuri-urdin striker joins Osasuna

Real Sociedad striker Joseba Llorente is expected to join Osasuna on loan and link up with former boss Jose Luis Mendilibar.

Mendilibar has been seeking to strengthen his attacking options over the summer, after the losses of Dejan Lekic and Ibrahima Balde to Genclerbirligi and Kuban Krasnodar respectively left him only Kike Sola and Nino to call upon.

Llorente and Mendilibar were together at Real Valladolid where the former shot to prominence with 44 goals in 100 La Liga appearances between 2005 and 2008, earning him a €5.5m move to Villarreal before a return to Sociedad, where he began his professional career.

Diaro Vasco reports that the agreement will see a number of variables included such as the number of games the 32-year-old plays, goals scored and where Osasuna finish in the table.

Llorente has a contract at Anoeta until 2014 and is a firm favourite with the Txuri-urdin supporters, yet with just one solitary start in 17 games last term he has seen himself slide down the pecking order under Philippe Montanier.
