Guangzhou deny Kaka bid

Guangzhou Evergrande President Lio Yongzhuo had denied his club is interested in signing Real Madrid midfielder Kaka.

Press reports in China surfaced a week ago claiming Guangzhou were prepared to pay €25m for the Brazilian international and were set to offer him a three-year contract with a salary of €6m-a-year.

“Our team has seven foreign players this season, the maximum allowed, and have no intention of letting any of them go,” Yongzhuo told Chinese news agency Xinhua.

Kaka is understood to be surplus to requirements at the Santiago Bernabeu next term and is understood to be asking for Є10m-a-year in wages if and when he does move, with Paris Saint-Germain or Milan his likely destination.

Madrid are looking to get him off the payroll as soon as possible so they can push on in their efforts to sign playmaker Luka Modric from Tottenham Hotspur, and a swap deal with the London club has also not been completely ruled out.
