Valencia unveil Viera

Jonathan Viera will be unveiled as a Valencia player on Thursday and claims he wants to leave the same mark on Los Che as David Silva.

The attacking midfielder has been signed for €2.5m from Las Palmas and is hoping to have the same impact at the Mestalla as fellow Gran Canarian and Manchester City star Silva.

“If I can leave the same impression as David then it would give me great satisfaction and would be much better for me,” he told a Press conference.

Viera, 22, also spoke of Jordi Alba’s departure to Barcelona and believes the club will overcome his loss without any problem.

“We know the great Euro 2012 he had and he is a great player, but Valencia will continue to exist without him and I’m sure we will have a good side this season.

“Everyone knows we have one of the best squads in Spain and every year a good team is put together, no matter who comes and goes.”

Meanwhile, new boss Mauricio Pellegrino had his first summit with President Manuel Llorente and director of football Braulio Vazquez on Wednesday evening, where it was agreed that a left-back, defensive midfielder and a striker are top of the agenda before the start of next season.
