Callejon wants Madrid stay

Real Madrid midfielder Jose Maria Callejon says he has no intention of quitting the Santiago Bernabeu this summer.

The 25-year-old midfielder, who re-joined Los Blancos in a €5m deal from Espanyol last year after starting his career in Madrid’s youth ranks, said his relationship with boss Jose Mourinho was one of the reasons he would like to stay despite making just five La Liga starts last term.

“I am not moving because I am very comfortable in Madrid,” he told AS.

“I know Mourinho well and know he trusts me, but there are many reasons I want to stay and I will show my commitment to Madrid and help them to win as much as possible.”

Callejon also praised Vicente Del Bosque’s Spain team after their success at Euro 2012 and reiterated his desire to force his way into future squads.

“To play for your country is any footballer’s dream and obviously I would like to receive the call, but it all depends on the Coach.

“Spain had a great tournament and again showed the level of Spanish football.

“There has never been a generation of footballers as good as this one,” he added.
