Negredo close to Malaga switch

Alvaro Negredo could be a Malaga player this week, according to Estadio Deportivo.

The Spanish international is set to sort out his future with Sevilla on his return from Euro 2012, with the Costa del Sol side already having been involved in negotiations for his signature.

Negredo cost Los Rojiblancos around €15m when he was signed from Real Madrid in August 2009 and Malaga are set to offer a similar figure for the 26-year-old, although Sevilla President Jose Maria del Nido is understood to be reluctant to let the player leave unless the club makes a profit on any deal.

Reports in Spain, however, suggest Negredo could be on his way to La Rosaleda within the next few days if Qatari-owned Malaga can come up with another €2m plus variables.

Sevilla urgently need cash to offset the disappointment of losing money by having missed out on European competition this season, with rumours of other players possibly having to depart the Sanchez Pizjuan as boss Michel looks to reshape his team before the start of next season.

Negredo, who scored 14 goals from 30 La Liga appearances last term, is understood to be open to the move as Malaga strengthen their squad in readiness for a first-ever Champions League campaign.
