Zaragoza sign Villarreal striker

Real Zaragoza have closed a deal to sign Villarreal B striker Lucas Porcar on a four-year contract, reports Marca.

Despite Manolo Jimenez saying this week that he did not plan to sign another forward, with Helder Postiga, Carlos Aranda and Jorge Orti on the books, the Zaragoza boss stepped up his interest in Porcar over the last couple of days and has persuaded the player to move to La Romareda.

Porcar still had one year of his contract remaining at El Madrigal but that has now been rescinded and he joins Los Manos as a free agent.

The 22-year-old, who has never played for Villarreal’s first team, made 33 appearances for the B side last term, scoring eight goals, and is a product of Espanyol’s youth academy having been snapped up by the Yellow Submarine in August 2011.

He first came to prominence with the Spanish Under-17 team in 2007, when he won the European Championship and was runner-up in the World Cup, and his arrival will be the first of four new signings this week.

Midfielders Recio and Apono are due to tie up their respective deals from Malaga with Recreativo de Huelva winger Javi Alamo also set to put pen to paper, while there could also be developments in Zaragoza’s pursuit of central defender Sidnei from Benfica.
