Arsenal agree Sahin deal

A report in Mundo Deportivo claims Arsenal have reached agreement with Real Madrid for the loan of Turkish midfielder Nuri Sahin.

The 23-year-old, signed from Borussia Dortmund for €10m last summer, was hampered by a knee injury for much of last season and made just two La Liga starts for Jose Mourinho’s men.

Although it is understood Sahin is not in Mourinho’s immediate plans, the Portuguese has acknowledged he does not want him to leave the Santiago Bernabeu on a permanent basis and he has been included on the club’s pre-season tour to the United States.

Sahin himself also believes he has a future with Los Blancos and it will now be up to Gunners boss Arsene Wenger to convince him of a move to the Emirates Stadium, where he would probably get more playing time than with the Spanish champions.

The Frenchman sees Sahin as the ideal replacement for the injured Jack Wilshere, who has had another setback in his fight against long-term knee and ankle problems and is likely to be out of action until at least October.

Meanwhile, Sahin is awaiting a decision on his future in Los Angeles, where his intention is to convince Mourinho he can be a vital member of his squad for the 2012-13 campaign.
