Sevilla are understood to be on the verge of signing Palmeiras right-back Cicinho from Palmeiras for €2m, reports Marca.

The player’s representative Roberto Freitas has revealed via his Twitter account that the player, who celebrates his 26th birthday next week, is set to sign a two-year contract with Los Rojiblancos, although at the moment there has been no official word from Sevilla.

Having previously played for modest Brazilian outfits Ituano, Oeste FC and Santo Andre, Cicinho signed for Palmeiras in January 2011and picked up a Copa de Brasil medal with the club last season.

Cicinho – real name Alexandro Mendonca dos Santos – has left his club’s training headquarters in Bela Horizonte, where he had been preparing for Sunday’s game against Cruzeiro, and will now travel to Spain to complete his transfer to the Andalusians.

The defender becomes Sevilla’s fifth signing of the summer following the arrivals of winger Bryan Rabello and midfielders Javi Hervas, Geoffrey Kondogbia and Hedwiges Maduro.
