Premier clubs chase Barrada

Getafe midfielder Abdel Barrada’s presence at the London Olympics has alerted several English clubs to him.

According to AS, a report in The Sun maintains that Everton have now joined Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur in the fight for the France-born Moroccan international, 23, who was linked with a move to Real Madrid in January after Arsenal had also shown interest.

Barrada is understood to be open to a move to the Premier League, with Getafe willing to sell him for around €9m despite the rescission clause in his contract being set at €20m.

The Madrid club have been struggling to offload several players over the summer and boss Luis Garcia has numerous midfield options as he looks to trim his squad before the start of next season

Having spent three years with Paris Saint-Germain’s B side Barrada joined Getafe in 2010 but, after playing for the club’s second string, had to wait until August 2011 to make his first-team debut in a 1-1 home draw with Levante.
