Di Maria brace in Madrid stroll

Angel Di Maria scored twice as Real Madrid strolled to a 5-1 victory at Real Oviedo on Tuesday night.

With several players unavailable due to recent international commitments, boss Jose Mourinho drafted in several members of the B side as Los Blancos got their preparations for the 2012-13 campaign underway at the Nuevo Carlos Tartiere in front of 12,000 spectators.

Lucas Vazquez opened the scoring for the visitors after just eight minutes and goals from Denis Tcheryshev and Esteban Granero just before the break put the La Liga champions firmly in the driving seat.

Matar Diop gave the Segunda B outfit a glimmer of hope when he pulled one back six minutes into the second half but a brace from Angel Di Maria, introduced as a half-time substitute, made it a comfortable evening’s work for the Madrid side.

Real will now face Benfica at the Estadio Da Luz on Friday in a game that will pay tribute to Portuguese legend Eusebio, who has been suffering health problems over the last few months, before travelling to the United States for the clash with LA Galaxy on August 2.
