Barcelona have started off the season in flying form under manager Hansi Flick, but will now have to deal with the challenges of juggling domestic and European football in the new Champions League format. The draw has thrown up several intriguing ties, but none more so than Bayern Munich.
Flick will welcome his former side to the Estadi Olimpic Lluis Companys at Montjuic, who Barcelona are yet to beat since they lost in their historic 8-2 defeat in 2020. The Champions League quarter-final clash saw Quique Setien sacked as manager, and started a decline that was not arrested until Xavi Hernandez won La Liga with the side two seasons ago.

Ultimately, that game made such an impression on Europe that it is no stretch to say it indirectly kicked off a chain of events that led to Flick getting the Barcelona job. With a thin squad propped up by La Masia graduates, Flick will now seek to return Barcelona to the quarter-finals for a second season running, but also just a second time since the Bayern defeat.
Facing him will be a relative novice in the role, after Vincent Kompany was appointed to the job during the summer after getting Burnley promoted to the Premier League. Bayern have a point to prove this season though, after their nine-year run of winning the Bundesliga was ended by Bayer Leverkusen, leaving Bayern trophyless last year. A point they went out to address early in their European campaign by thumping Dinamo Zagreb 9-2 on matchday one, their largest ever European victory, surpassing their win over Bayern.

The clash will take place on Wednesday the 23rd of October at 21:00 CEST, sandwiched between two tricky ties for the Blaugrana, a home tie with Sevilla and then a trip to the Santiago Bernabeu to face Real Madrid.
Fans who want to see the famous duo go to battle have several options they can look at. Going through a third-party seller, LiveFootballTickets.com are rated highly for trust and customer service. At the time of writing, they have just 246 tickets remaining, which shows the high demand for the game over a month out.
Other options would be Stubhub, who have a similar number of tickets, and are selling at €140 to begin with, or Viagogo, who have just 4 tickets at €130, but after that, prices rise from €145. That is similar to what is available on LiveFootballTickets.com, whose prices begin at €145, but score well on consumer trust site Trustpilot, receiving a 4.8 out of 5 rating.
It is possible to go through the Barcelona club website, but currently tickets are only available for members. With the event fast-approaching, there is not too much time for non-locals to fix travel and accommodation if they are waiting for the general sale to the public though.
Equally, those who want to go in the away end with Bayern Munich can go through their club website, but that too requires a membership in order to request tickets. The Bavarian side should have between 2,500 and 3,000 tickets for the game at Montjuic, but they are currently showing the tickets as ‘overbooked’.
