Who can win the 2024/25 La Liga Golden Boot?

The 2024/25 La Liga season will feature plenty of battles at both ends of the table as Real Madrid aim to retain their crown.

New Los Blancos star Kylian Mbappe is expected to be the favourite and the Frenchman scored on his club debut in their 2-0 UEFA Cup final win over Atalanta.

As the new campaign gets underway, Football Espana looks at who could win the Pichichi/Golden Boot award in La Liga in 2025.

Kylian Mbappe

Mbappe has finally completed his long awaited move to Madrid after leaving Paris Saint-Germain on a free transfer ahead of Euro 2024.

Following months of speculation, Mbappe will now need to back up his stellar status with a strong first season in the Spanish capital, alongside Vinicius Junior and Jude Bellingham.

Mbappe has scored over 25 league goals in the last four campaigns, with 27 in 2023/24, which edged out the current Pichichi holder Artem Dovbyk who has moved on from Girona to join AS Roma.

The onus will be on Mbappe to live up to the hype, but also on his rivals to catch him, if he hits the ground running in Madrid.

Vinicius Junior

Mbappe’s main rival for the award could come from within the Real Madrid dressing room as Vinicius Jr prepares for another huge season.

The Brazilian international is the current favourite to win the 2024 Ballon d’Or after driving Real Madrid to a La Liga and UEFA Champions League double last season.

He managed 15 league goals, compared to Bellingham’s 19, but he will get even more support in attack alongside Mbappe.

The early signs indicate Carlo Ancelotti will keep him in his favoured left sided position, with Mbappe central, but his Real Madrid career high is 17 league goals in 2021/22.

Robert Lewandowski

Barcelona veteran Robert Lewandowski won the award in 2022/23, in his first season in Spain, and netted 19 goals in 2023/24.

Despite missing out on key target Nico Williams, Barcelona will battle Real Madrid for the title again, and Lewandowski will be a key part of that.

Hansi Flick will rotate the Polish international for selected games in domestic and European action and that should keep him fresh for league action.

Alexander Sorloth finished second behind Dovbyk last season, with 23 to 24 goals, and his move to Atletico Madrid will keep him in the running, as an outside pick to challenge for the award.
