Chelsea find out price for which Atletico Madrid will consider selling Samu Omorodion

Atletico Madrid have been clear that they want to hold onto Samu Omorodion ahead of next season, and believe he could be the future of their frontline. That has been shown, as Los Rojiblancos turn down multiple offers from Chelsea for the Nigerian-Spanish forward, and they have also reiterated to Omorodion that they want to keep him. Everyone has a price though.

Omorodion is also happy to remain at the Metropolitano next season, and still a teenager, is looking to succeed at Atletico Madrid. However Atletico would consider an offer that is ‘above market value’. According to Marca, were an offer to come in that was 10 times what they paid for him – €60m – then they would contemplate a sale.

They go on to say that so far Chelsea have put €40m on the table for the 19-year-old, while his release clause is €80m. It would take a major commitment from Chelsea to spend quite so much on Omorodion, who despite being clearly talented, has played just one season at the top level. He has all the attributes to become a nightmare for defenders, and would have plenty of resale value if he were signed now, but whether there is a long road between potential and reaching that level. Equally, that hasn’t scared Chelsea away from investing heavily in young talents under Todd Boehly.
