Barcelona seal agreement with 20-year-old midfielder, first team place possible next season

Hansi Flick is expected to carry on predecessor Xavi Hernandez’s focus on Barcelona’s youth during his tenure as manager, and one of the players he intends to keep an eye on is Marc Casado, current captain of Barca Atletic. The 20-year-old has been in-and-around the first team dynamic for the last couple of years, and he could earn a permanent place for the 2024-25 season.

Casado will be staying at Barcelona for the foreseeable future, having agreed terms over a new three-year contract, as per MD. His current deal is set to expire at the end of June, but any jeopardy over a possible departure as a free agent now appears to have been taken away.

The report also confirms that Casado will be assessed by Flick during Barcelona’s pre-season schedule. If he fails to establish a permanent place in the first team, he could be loaned out to continue his development, with several clubs interested in a summer agreement with the Catalan giants.
