Xavi Hernandez agents have been told he won’t continue at Barcelona next season

Barcelona look as if they will be moving on from Xavi Hernandez this summer, as they get into the process of deciding his replacement. Thus far, he has maintained that he has not heard anything about his future from President Joan Laporta or the club.

Recent reports claim that Sporting Director Deco and assistant Bojan Krkic have flown out to London to meet with Hansi Flick, one of two leading candidates to replace Xavi alongside Rafael Marquez.

Xavi told the press on Sunday that he has no knowledge of any changes to Barcelona’s plans next season, and will meet with the sporting commission next week after the end of the season. However Bar Canaletes report that Xavi’s agents were told in written form last Thursday  at around 18:30 CEST that Xavi will not continue next season.

All of the reporting surrounding the matter has been that Xavi will be sacked next week, and it certainly seems that Laporta has had a change of heart in the last few weeks. The primary concern must be that sacking Xavi and his team will cost Barcelona anywhere between €12m and €20m depending on reports, a blow that they can scarcely afford, bearing in mind the cost of a new coach and staff too.
