Barcelona defender Ronald Araujo continues to be in the headlines through no action of his own, but with the Blaugrana in need of sales this summer, and his contract negotiations going nowhere, the Uruguayan looks the strongest candidate to leave the club for a big fee this summer. Bayern Munich and Manchester United have both been linked to Araujo, but this week it was reported that Aston Villa could also be interested.
After Sporting Director Monchi and manager Unai Emery were seen at Montjuic two weeks ago, and it emerged that they were there to watch Ronald Araujo against Valencia, as Barcelona won out 3-2. However Relevo reporter Cristina Bea has now denied this to be the case, saying the 24-year-old is not in Emery’s plans.
🚨 Fuentes del Aston Villa me confirman que el club inglés no tiene interés en hacerse con los servicios de Ronald Araujo. El central uruguayo del Barça no entra en los planes de Unai Emery. @relevo

Despite talks with Bayern in January, and consistent links to United, with no certainty on who will be the manager there next season, their transfer plans look to be somewhat in doubt. Both Barcelona and Araujo may want to move the situation on, but first they must attract an offer, and that could be behind those rumours.
