Xavi demands Barcelona improvement as Real Madrid seal La Liga title

Barcelona have a huge amount of work to do to wrestle the La Liga title back from Real Madrid next season.

La Blaugrana’s grip on the Spanish title was finally ended this weekend as their 4-2 defeat at Girona confirmed Real Madrid’s title success.

The task now ahead for Xavi Hernandez and his players is to build for next season with the former Spanish international agreeing to stay on.

Barcelona and Girona will join Real Madrid in the UEFA Champions League in 2024/25 and they will be expected to launch a renewed title charge.

However, despite the expectations on Barcelona for next season, Xavi admitted the gap to Los Blancos remains significant and his squad need to make major improvements.

“We had the game to decide the title this weekend and we gave it away. It’s a carbon copy of the Real Madrid game and the other Girona game. We have to change a lot to compete next year”, as per quotes from Marca.

Xavi insisted Barcelona will fight on to try and overtake Girona in the race for second spot with the latter now holding a one point advantage with four games left to play.
