Real Madrid midfielder Toni Kroos has always carried himself with a certain disdain for the hubris of football, and on Wednesday night his podcast channel posted a video suggesting that he lives his life closer to the everyman than a superstar.
Madridistas might have felt a little queasy at the sight of Kroos balanced on top of a chair back, given he is one of their few remaining fit midfielders. Yet as always, Kroos was the equilibrium. The meaning of his balancing act was a rogue rat.
The German midfielder had an unwanted invader into his home, and guided it towards a trap in his top cupboard. In the video, his partner Jessica can be heard asking if he wants gloves, before he eventually finds the rat in the trap set, complete with a comical close-up of Kroos himself. Kroos might be a Real Madrid star, but apparently it does not escape some of the more menial problems either.
