Barcelona would only receive €25m if Ousmane Dembele is sold before August

Ousmane Dembele has resurrected his Barcelona career over the last 18 months. Under Xavi Hernandez, he has began to show the form that saw the club spend big to sign him from Borussia Dortmund in 2017.

Despite this, Dembele’s future is far from certain, although both parties are keen to see him remain in Catalonia. His current contract expires at the end of next season, and he has been offered a new four-year deal, although it has yet to be accepted.

Barcelona could lose Dembele on a cut-price deal this summer, as MD have reported that his release clause, which previously sat at €100m, went down to €50m on Thursday, and it will remain at that until the 1st of August, unless a new contract is agreed before them.

On top of this, Barcelona would only receive 50% of the transfer fee if Dembele were to leave, with the other €25m going to the player’s agent, Moussa Sissoko.

Barcelona desperately do not want to lose Dembele this summer, and talks are progressing over a new contract. However, for the time being, he is available at a very affordable price to interested parties.
