The Five Players Who Could Move to La Liga This Summer

The summer transfer window is an exciting time for football fans as clubs around the world scramble to secure their top targets.

La Liga, one of the most competitive and popular leagues in the world, is no exception. With some of the biggest clubs in the world, including Real Madrid and Barcelona, the league is always looking to attract top talent.

This summer promises to be no different, with many players already being linked with moves to Spain. Here’s a rundown of five top stars who might make the move to the Iberian Peninsula.

Jude Bellingham

As one of the hottest young prospects in world football, Jude Bellingham has a long list of admirers: in fact, no top club would turn down the chance to sign the England star, who’s still only 19.

That means the teenage midfielder holds all the aces when it comes to his next club after Borussia Dortmund, and many experts believed Liverpool were favorites as Bellingham was a fan as a boy.

However, the Reds’ drop in form has caused concern in the player’s camp and European champions Madrid, who might also win this seasons’ Champions League, are in the frame, according to reports

Madrid’s golden midfield duo of Luka Modric and Toni Kroos aren’t getting any younger, and the arrival of a fresh set of world-class legs there may just be what they need.

Ivan Toney

Brentford and England striker Ivan Toney has hit the headlines for both good and bad reasons in the last few years.

On the pitch, he’s been the driving force, along with coach Thomas Frank, behind Brentford’s rise up the Premier League table, with a terrific goals and assist record ever since the Bees’ promotion to the top flight.

Off the field, however, Toney has been found guilty of breaking strict Football Association (FA) rules that prohibit certain types of betting. Playing in casinos and, of course, paid-for and free online casino games is permitted, but placing money on a sports wager is strictly out of bounds.

Toney faces a six-month ban from English football for doing this an alleged 262 times, which could pave the way for a big move to one of the Spanish giants as he seeks ways to continue playing.

Julian Alvarez

It must be tough battling Erling Haaland for a starting place, but Julian Alvarez has shown tremendous spirit this season, scoring five goals in his six starts for Manchester City.

The striker, a world champion at just 23, is hungry for more silverware, but he’ll have to continue playing back-up in Manchester, unless Pep Guardiola decides to change formation.

If he chooses to move, then he may well like the look of Real Madrid or Barcelona who will keep in the hunt for more trophies. In Barca’s case, though, it would have to be a loan, as the Catalan club continues to battle severe financial difficulties, but if Alvarez wants a full season of games under his belt, then there are far worse places to go.

Sofyan Amrabat

Despite his attempts to leave Fiorentina during the winter transfer window, Sofyan Amrabat, who played a key role in Morocco’s unexpected journey to the World Cup semi-finals in Qatar in late 2022, remains with the club.

The 26-year-old was one of the main stars of Morocco’s impressive run, and has impressed a whole host of suitors, thought to include Diego Simeone’s Atletico Madrid. It must only be a matter of time before the midfielder moves on to new pastures.

If he does move to the Metropolitano, he’ll rejuvenate an ageing defensive midfield of Axel Witsel and Geoffrey Kondogbia and is sure not to cost a huge amount of money having reached the last year of his contract.

Marcus Thuram

Marcus Thuram may not quite have lived up to his father’s world-class standards, but he’s been on fire this season, averaging roughly a goal every two games for Borussia Moenchengladbach.

At 25, the French forward is reaching his peak and could offer a lot to one of the top La Liga sides with Karim Benzema, Robert Lewandowski, and Antoine Griezmann all edging closer to retirement.

Thuram is known for his impressive speed and agility, making him a dangerous attacking threat. He’s also skilled in dribbling and finishing, like Griezmann, with a knack for scoring crucial goals.

Inter Milan are said to have already offered the star a bumper deal to join them on a free, but they are likely to be beaten by the higher prestige of the Iberian clubs, or possibly by someone from the higher reaches of the English Premier League.
