Real Madrid announce their El Caso Negreira intentions following board meeting

Almost four weeks after news first broke about El Caso Negreira, which regards Barcelona’s involvement with Enriquez Negreira, former Vice President of the Referee’s Committee, Real Madrid have finally spoke publicly on the matter.

It has now been confirmed that Spanish prosecutors are pursuing the case against Barcelona, citing “continuous sporting corruption” between several former club officials and Negreira.

On Saturday, the club announced that President Florentino Perez would chair a board meeting to discuss Real Madrid’s stance on the subject. That has now concluded, and Los Blancos have now issued another statement for clarification.

Real Madrid’s board members have agreed that, in defence of the club’s legitimate rights, it will appear at the trial when the judge opens it up to the affected parties.

“Real Madrid expresses its deep concern about the seriousness of the facts, and reiterates its full confidence in the action of justice. It has agreed that, in defence of its legitimate interests, it will appear in the procedure as soon as the judge opens it to the injured parties.”

Barcelona and Real Madrid had appeared to be on fairly good terms off the pitch, largely due to their combined efforts to push through the European Super League. It remains to be seen how relations will be affected because of this.
